Bunnies aren’t Easter gifts

Adopt don't shop-Long Island Rabbit Rescue GroupToday, we rescued an injured domestic rabbit who had been abandoned in Nassau County. We hope she’ll make it. She’s under incredible veterinary care.

We see an increase in abandoned, neglected, and abused rabbits 2-3 months after Christmas and 2-3 months after Easter. The rabbit we rescued today very well may have been a holiday gift, discarded.

Let’s do better, Long Island.

Please, do your research before adding a rabbit or any type of being to your family. Reach out; we will help you figure out if a rabbit is the “right” pet for your family.

Research, education, and thoughtful decisions will save rabbits from suffering like the little girl we rescued today.
